welcome to the 69th hunger games

wesley castillo, district 2.

reaping

From a very young age the members of district two always trained for the games until they were able to volunteer and participate, just like the distrcit one careers as well. Being 17 his name was in there a few times though he didn't care he volunteered anyways. It was a cloudy day in district two the clouds seemed to loom over head threatening to rain, Wesley held his head high though his nerves were getting the best of him, he was finally old enough to volunteer, the thing bothering him the most though was that his partner, his lover, was old enough to volunteer as well. They had agreed never to volunteer the same year, though he knew the second that she saw him volunteer she would as well. That's what he was scared of he knew how the games worked and if she were to volunteer at the same time as him and compete in the same games only one of them would be coming out.Everything seemed so made up though when that morning had rolled around he loomed, he dreaded getting prepared for the reaping though when he finally was all dressed up he had looked at himself in the mirror. It all became so real.

The moment he stepped into the square of his district he took a deep breath, everything around him went quiet, everything seemed to have been going in slow motion. Everything was slowly becoming a reality to him. Echoing speakers as the mic was tapped and the announcer stepped forward and began explaining everything, eventually he stepped forward out of the crowd."I volunteer!" He shouted. Footsteps echoed in his ears as he heard another voice speak over him, turning to look at the female he immediately. Saw his counterpart, his lover. Fear written all over his face as it was evident that he'd do anything to protect her, even sacrifice himself. The crowd went silent and everything again was moving in slow motion, though the second that peacekeepers had ushered them inside everything began going normal speed. This was really happening. He really was a part of the 69th Hunger Games. And only one would come out.

Interviews

Everything all became too real, the ride to the capital seemed to long and he just wanted it over with, he wanted to be back home with her, Crystal McAdams, the girl he had been together with for two years going on three. The train ride was quiet, neither spoke to each other, they were too upset with each other, well at least Wes was with her, she had agreed never to volunteer with him, yet that's exactly what happened. An angry expression written all over his face before they soon arrived in the capital, they had been split up and examined before they were dressed for the interviews. Something that he was dreading the whole time. Eventually it was his turn to answer what the viewers had wanted to know and for him to put on a show to gain sponsors.

Walking out on stage he waved at the crowd, trying his best to put on a smile for them and the hosts, though deep down he was worried about Crystal, how she would fair in the games, sure they both had trained for this, but again only one could live, and if it came down to the both of them there wasn't any way he was going to be able to kill her. He knew that he wasn't going to fair well especially if he had lost her, a soft smile remained on his lips as he would sit down in the chair next to the host."It's our honor to have you here in the capital as the district 2 male, we just have a few questions for you before you're free to go."
